The Tikiyaki Orchestra’s fifth album "Tropika" features more of the castaway melodies & jungle rhythms we have come to love from the band. On the latest pressing, Hi-Tide co-president Magdalena O’Connell envisioned an effect that not only complements the gatefold sleeve art by SHAG, but integrates it seamlessly into the experience.
“I wanted listeners to take the record from the sleeve, and be instantly transported to a plane view of “Tropika” island, surrounded by crystal clear water,” explains O’Connell. “We sent this idea to Gord, our account manager at Precision Record Pressing, and we collaborated on this “floating island” concept - a “color in color” effect using light blue & jungle green vinyl colors on a manual press.”
